We are breeders of Shih Tzus in Virginia Beach, Virginia. When we began our adventure with Shih Tzus, our goal was to provide pet-quality pups for families. As our association with experienced breeders increased and as we learned more about these precocious little dogs, we began to turn our attention to breeding show-quality pups that best meet the breed standard. With the new dames we have purchased for our breeding program, we expect to produce high quality dogs for show. In addition to offering our AKC-registered pups, we also provide stud services for qualified breeding females, as well as boarding.

We purchased our first Shih Tzu as a gift for my mother. She wanted a puppy so I suggested we go to, the worst place to buy a puppy, a pet store. They had just received several new puppies, so we had a good variety of puppies to choose from. I had a Yorkie in mind but she had other ideas after seeing a Shih Tzu puppy. We had no clue what we were getting into since we were not familiar with the breed. I was the last one to hold the puppy and kept trying to get my mother to look at other dogs. Finally I held him. He looked up at me and crooked his head and my heart melted.
We named this pup Charlie Brown but Charlie Chan but seemed more
appropriate because the character and the pup are both Chinese descent.
We renamed him; but, he had such a Charlie Brown spirit, I finally came up
with the name Charlie Brown Kan Chan. With the Kan in there, it still sounded
Chinese and so was started the Kan Chan name.

Our highest moment was when L'il Bit got his championship (7/25/2009). On 8/4/2009 I lost my partner. He will be missed.

This section is new and will give you an up-date on what is happening this coming year (2012) to KCST.
I am planning on down-sizing to one stud. That means that the girls that are mated to Chevy, our retiring stud, will also be looking for forever homes. Dixie Lee and Cha Cha will also be retiring this year. I will also be letting Skoda go later this year. If you are by any chance interested, please contact me so that arrangements can be made.
