The Dames of Kan Chan

Once we inherited Charlie Brown, who we bought for my mother, my brother decided he wanted a puppy from Charlie Brown as we had both bought the dog. It took me two years to find an AKC registered female in our area. We never even thought about purchasing a puppy on the Internet as is done so frequently now.
Our first female was a black and white female whom we named Peppermint Patty. She had our first two litters by Charlie Brown and then had to be spayed. We kept one of their daughters from the second litter and named her Princess Tigerlily. Princess Tigerlily, known as Priny, is black and white and weights about 12 pounds. She has just had her last litter. She had three beautiful black and white puppies: 2 female and 1 male. (See Puppies for photographs.)
In about 2004 we started learning more about the breed and what the standards are for the breed. With this knowledge we started looking for new females to breed even better quality puppies. We unfortunately bought a female that was not a pure bred even though she was sold as one. This puppy was breed by Belinda Kelton of Virginia Beach and was named Chantal but called Chaney. Chaney is black, with some brown patches, and very little white on her chest. She is now owned by Dana Best of Virginia Beach.
We started meeting other breeders through Chantal. We met Mary Carraway of Malay's Toy Dogs of Amelia, Va. who introduced me to Valerie Lewis of Lew's in Norfolk, Va., who sold me my next female, Dixie Lee. We brought Dixie Lee to our kennel in 2008. She is a beautiful black and white with a little white on her chin, under her nose, and a small amount of white on her chest. She went to join Carol and Wally Rice for three months in the show circuit where she did us proud by winning 21 blue ribbons and by being selected Reserve Best of Breed three times. Dixie Lee weights approximately 10-12 pounds and she has just had her first litter by Malay's Chevy of Malay's Toy Dogs in Amelia, Va. Chevy is red and white.
The same day we got Dixie Lee, we also acquired another little girl and we named her Scarlett O'Hara. Scarlett is a solid red black mask and weights about 8-10 pounds. Her breeder is Trisha Holben of Rainbowwow in Virginia Beach.
We have a new little girl from Malay's Toy Dogs. Her name is Kissamee Kate and is called Katie. Katie is gold black mask and her breeder is Mary Carraway. Her sire is CH Crimson and Clover owned by Lynn Harris. Lynn owns SarLyn Kennels in Jetersburg, Va.
